The roles which NPs and RNs function in (in Ontario and across Canada), are governed by the settings in which they practice (urban vs. rural or remote), registration status, or functions outlined by delegation or medical directives.
The Fundamentals of Primary Health Care is based on the core content delivered by the COUPN Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner Program. Nurses who may benefit from this course include RN (EC)s, RNs practicing under medical directives in clinics or hospitals or RNs functioning in the expanded role under medical directives employed by First Nations and Inuit Health Branch or by Tribal Councils in remote communities.
